Art 1 Final Portfolio

1. My favorite project of the semester is the carton skeleton. I like it because it was something that i felt really confident doing. It also it shows that you dont always need color for a project to be great. It was not as hard as i thought it was going to be because it was just drawing what something would look like. It was somewhat challenging because you had to put in the details of all the bones into it to make it look like a actual animal. It did not take a lot of time like the other projects we did, it was really a quick thing and that was a good thing about it. I got the ant character from the movie A Bugs Life. I had to give him a spine because he walked like a human in the movie. That was the most challenging part putting in the spine and ribcage. Overall it was a really fun project and that is why it is my favorite.

2. The project i learned the most from is the stencil project. It did not come out as good as it could have. Towards the end i rushed the final coat of paint (the black eye). It went over the yellow and made it look not as good as it could have been. The red worked for a background so i wouldn't have to put on another layer.   I learned that if you are using ANY type of paint you need to let it dry and take it slow. Even if you are using spray paint. It wants terrible but i like it. I could have been slower (in a good way).

3. I think my shoe is the project that shows i learned. It was not a good shoe but it is something i can say i made it. I learned from the cartoon skeleton. Once i was comfortable with my Drawing Style i was able to draw the best shoe i could. The skeleton helped me because i could look back at that and see the tiny details i had in it. The attention to the small details i think went into the shoe. I liked the shoe because if i where to draw a shoe now it would probably be even better. I could keep trying and then get something really good.

4. I think the project of Prints was least important. It was something we did once and never did again. It was a really cool project to do but it was kind of pointless. We where doing the shading unit and then we did a random activity. It was not related to shading. Then after that we got into clay which we would eventually start to paint. The only thing related to the Prints was the fact that we used paint later in our clay tiles. It was also difficult to get the just right amount of paint in order to make the print look good.

5. Evil Pancakes reflects me as a artist for many reasons even if it sounds strange. First i would not really consider myself as a artist because this is my first art class. It is something new just like taking this course. It was also the second time i used Photoshop so it shows my weaknesses and strengths. One of them was blending the mouth in so it looked real. I got switched into this class so it was like a whole new experience just like trying Photoshop again. It is not the best Pancake and it is not the worst it is similar to the others works of mine, not bad but okay. It will get better just like all of my future projects. It was actually a pretty cool project.
